Quarry Operative
Hourly Rate – £15.03
Hours – 47.75 hours per week, 6am to 5pm
Location & Postcode – Barnsdale Bar Quarry, WF8 3JX
As a Quarry Operative at FCC Environment, you will work as part of the production team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of Barnsdale Bar Quarry. You will operate fixed and mobile plant, support daily inspections, take responsibility for health & safety practices, and ensure compliance with environmental and site procedures.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
- Carrying out all tasks safely, following site rules and safety procedures
- Operating plant and machinery as authorised, safely and efficiently
- Completing daily inspection checks and reporting defects
- Reporting accidents, hazards, and near misses to management
- Working in accordance with the Environmental Management System
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of timesheets
- Supporting planned/unplanned cover, including some overtime or weekend work
- Keeping tools, PPE, and equipment maintained and stored correctly
- Performing lubrication, refuelling, and cleaning of the plant
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties, including preventative maintenance and site clean up
What are we looking for?
- Experience in quarrying or a similar operational environment
- Experience operating plant/machinery (e.g. loading shovels, mobile plant)
- Positive, enthusiastic, and flexible attitude
- Strong commitment to meeting objectives
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Resilience, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities
