Managing Consultant – Net Zero - Heavy Industry
The Role
Due to significant growth in demand for our corporate GHG accounting, reporting, and emissions reduction services, there is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our climate change consultancy team, focusing on the heavy industry sector.
The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team, supporting ERM’s client organizations on challenges related to energy and climate change, including:
* Accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2, and 3), including developing inventories for heavy industry and hard-to-abate sectors aligned with industry best practices
* Identifying technological and strategic GHG reduction opportunities and integrating these into strategic climate action roadmaps
* Reporting climate performance in sustainability reports and CDP disclosures
* Embedding climate change considerations within risk management frameworks and strategic planning
* Conducting physical climate change and transition risk assessments, aligned with TCFD recommendations
* Engaging and building governance capacity from the board to operational levels
Our role as consultants is to help clients achieve sustainable development objectives and manage related risks and opportunities effectively. The team collaborates with other ERM practice areas, including sustainability strategy, impact assessment, due diligence, and risk management, to deliver value-added services globally.
Role and key responsibilities
As a Net Zero Managing Consultant, you will assist organizations in achieving net-zero emissions by providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and innovative solutions. Projects typically involve Net Zero strategies, GHG inventories, and decarbonization strategies, with opportunities to serve as a key advisor to major clients.
Your responsibilities include:
* Acting as project manager, leading client engagements, and coordinating teams
* Analyzing carbon emissions, setting targets (SBTi), and developing emissions reduction roadmaps
* Supporting clients in meeting assessment and disclosure requirements
* Overseeing report and presentation preparations and managing project delivery
* Developing proposals and supporting business development efforts
Core Skills
Technical Knowledge
* Relevant degree or 5+ years’ experience in environmental consulting or related fields
* Sector experience in heavy industry is advantageous
* Deep knowledge of GHG accounting and reporting standards (GHG Protocol, SBTi, etc.)
Technical Skills
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, with experience in data visualization tools
* Experience managing large projects and complex datasets
* Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills
