Job Summary
The Cash Manager and the Cash Management team are part of the wider financial accounts team. The function is to provide the Trust with an efficient and cost‑effective accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury management service. The Assistant Cash Manager will take day‑to‑day responsibility for agreed services, manage Finance Officers, and report to the Cash Manager. The role may also involve deputising for the Cash Manager, handling statutory returns, freedom of information requests, and contributing to finance team developments.
Main duties of the job
* Responsible for cashier function and accounts receivable: reconcile bank accounts, raise invoices, chase aged debt and prepare month‑end reporting.
* Lead the purchase card and petty cash function: request new card users, ensure credit limits, post month‑end journals.
* Support the financial running of the Charity: quarterly reporting, monitor donations, liaise with fund users.
* Line management responsibility for finance officers across multiple sites.
* Deputise for Cash Manager.
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
* AAT qualified to level 3 or equivalent accounting experience.
Experience (Essential)
* Accounting experience.
* IT literate including extensive use of Word and Excel.
* Knowledge of ledger systems/accounting strategy and budgetary control processes.
Desirable
* Line management experience.
* Knowledge of NHS finance and NHS VAT.
Essential skills & knowledge
* Good communication skills both verbal and written.
* Ability to explain finance information to non‑finance managers.
* Experience of working as a team, adopting a task‑based approach to workload.
* Good analytical skills.
* Ability to produce and interpret financial information including variance analysis.
* Manage own time and workload in accordance with monthly/annual and ad‑hoc timetables.
Desirable skills & knowledge
* Experience in delivery of informal training to colleagues and non‑finance staff.
* Logical approach to problem solving.
