Overview
UHDB TB Service are seeking a Band 7 TB Deputy Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Royal Derby Hospital. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, innovative, dynamic and enthusiastic, prioritising patient care. The Band 7 will support the 8A Lead with staff management including appraisals and development of junior staff, contribute toward service improvement (including policy and guidance review) and deputise in the 8a Lead's absence. The role requires the development of TB clinical skills and the ability to practice both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team in primary and secondary care settings.
Responsibilities
* Case manage a caseload of patients and run nurse-led clinics
* Ensure all incidents/outbreaks are managed according to local policies
* Contribute to and oversee that treatment completion targets are achieved for both Active and Latent TB cases
* Ensure regular audits for quality improvement are completed and actions identified
* Work with multidisciplinary teams across sites and liaise with UKHSA
* Establish links with neighbouring TB services and collaborate with TB services nationwide
* Provide deputising support for the 8A Lead as required
Qualifications and Skills
Essential – Able to liaise confidently with staff from all disciplines; effective verbal and written communication; ability to prioritise workload; demonstrable experience in a specialist nursing role; Band 6 clinical nursing experience or previous Band 7 experience; respiratory experience at management level; flexible approach; valid driving licence; NMC registration.
Desirable – Evidence of leading a team; knowledge of Trust policies and procedures; TB knowledge or experience in the TB department; adherence to NMC standards; relevant clinical experience and practical skills competence; evidence of managing a team.
