ELECTRICAL INSTALL LECTURER // START ASAP, LONG-TERM WORK, ENHANCED DBS, COMPETITIVE RATES.
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Electrical Installation across Further Education programmes. The post holder will support learners to develop safe working practices, strong technical knowledge, and industry-relevant skills, enabling progression into apprenticeships, employment, or further study.
Key Responsibilities
* Teaching and Learning
o Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and effective lessons in Electrical Installation
o Teach across a range of levels (e.g. Entry Level, Level 2-3, T Levels, Apprenticeships)
o Deliver both classroom-based theory and practical workshop instruction
o Embed Maths, English, and digital skills within vocational learning
o Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of learners with diverse abilities
* Assessment and Learner Progress
o Assess learners' work in line with awarding body and college requirements
o Provide timely, constructive feedback to support learner achievement
o Monitor learner attendance, progress, and behaviour
o Support learners with additional needs in partnership with learner support teams
* Curriculum and Quality
o Contribute to curriculum design and development to meet current industry standards
o Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation
o Prepare learners for practical assessments, exams, and workplace readiness
o Participate in internal verification, standardisation, and quality improvement activities
* Industry and Professional Practice
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical regulations and industry practice
o Ensure teaching reflects current standards, including the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
o Promote safe working practices and compliance with health & safety legislation
o Develop and maintain links with employers and industry partners
* College Responsibilities
o Act as a personal tutor where required
o Participate in enrolment, open days, and promotional activities
o Engage in continuous professional development (CPD)
o Adhere to safeguarding, equality and diversity, and health & safety policies
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification or above in Electrical Installation or a related discipline
* Current or recent industry experience as a qualified electrician
* Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training)
* English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent)
Experience
* Significant, recent experience within the electrical installation industry
* Experience working with apprentices, trainees, or junior staff
* Experience of working safely and in compliance with electrical regulations
Skills and Knowledge
* Strong knowledge of electrical installation principles and systems
* Good working knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
* Ability to deliver practical and theory-based sessions effectively
* Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills
Desirable Criteria
* Assessor and/or Internal Verifier qualifications (TAQA, A1, V1)
* Experience teaching in an FE college or training environment
* Current inspection and testing qualifications (e.g. 2391 or equivalent)
* Knowledge of apprenticeships, T Levels, and awarding bodies (e.g. City & Guilds, EAL)
