We are currently recruiting for a Project Planner to join our Project Controls team, supporting major construction projects across the Life Sciences, Pharma and Data Centre sectors. The Project Planner will work on high-profile projects in the UK and Europe, providing performance reporting and analysis support. This may be part of a large team or the key day-to-day contact point with the client. Key activities include:
Responsibilities
* Identify trends and root causes of deviations against the baseline using lead and lag indicators; recommend remedial actions to drive value for the client.
* Lead the evaluation of the project’s time, cost and quality targets, applying governance controls to enable successful delivery.
* Collaborate with a remote team of cost managers to reach an agreed, market-tested cost baseline and ensure value for money for the client.
* Guide and influence the general contractor to progress in line with the schedule and within approved cash flow parameters.
* Act as the primary client contact to address delivery and commercial issues; prepare formal and ad hoc reports focusing on time, cost and quality targets.
* Control costs with knowledge of conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, basic contingency principles and procurement principles.
* Create or maintain cost reports and executive-level dashboards summarising financials.
* Understand change management principles; lead change management processes and workflows for tracking and approving changes.
* Coordinate and lead planning sessions with clients and vendors to compile the master project/programme schedule, agree baselines and establish critical paths.
* Understand procurement principles; gather lead times from vendors and clients and communicate material and equipment prioritisation to meet installation dates.
* Work with the client to define vendor schedule requirements.
* Participate in project risk evaluations and incorporate risks into Monte Carlo analyses to quantify impacts on cost and schedule.
* Stay informed on project changes and communicate them to the project team to enable approvals within the change management process.
* Hold vendors accountable for timely schedule updates and reporting to maintain master schedule accuracy and adherence to process and quality standards.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a project controls environment within life sciences, pharmaceutical or data centre sectors, with experience in at least one of: Programme Controls Management, Earned Value (EVM), Change & Risk Management, Planning, Project Controls or PMO.
* Degree educated preferred; relevant industry and sector experience essential.
* Experience with tools such as Oracle Primavera, MS Project, Excel, PRISM (Cost Management System) or similar.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; rigorous adherence to documented processes and governance; ability to innovate to meet changing project needs.
