Job Description
We are seeking a skilled chef to handle the à la carte food preparation for the Lounge at Heathrow Airport. The ideal candidate will possess strong culinary skills, a thorough knowledge of food hygiene and safety, and the ability to maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment, including compliance with all HACCP requirements. Experience in handling Halal meat and understanding Halal preparation standards is essential. The candidate should demonstrate a positive attitude towards service staff and lounge management, with the capability to supervise the Commis and Kitchen Stewards.
* Ensure food safety and hygiene at all times
* Prepare and plate all food items according to the menu specifications
* Operate kitchen equipment following Standard Operating Procedures and specifications
* Control portions as per client standards and menu requirements
* Monitor expiry dates and ensure all food items served are within their use-by dates
* Order food supplies daily for upcoming service periods
* Minimize wastage through effective requisitions
* Maintain kitchen cleanliness with stewarding staff to uphold hygiene standards
* Monitor fridge temperatures, food labels, and adhere to all food safety protocols
* Communicate promptly regarding unavailable menu items
* Maintain a high level of kitchen hygiene overall

Qualifications
* Previous experience as a Chef De Partie across multiple sections
* Experience in airline catering is advantageous but not essential
* Proficiency in various cooking techniques such as grilling, roasting, and sautéing
* Ability to plate attractively and maintain high presentation standards
* Experience in menu creation and modification based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
* Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergen considerations
* Skills in inventory management, ordering, and waste reduction
* Ability to work under pressure and multitask during busy periods
* Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Understanding of guest expectations and lounge service enhancement
