Technical Delivery Manager Position: Technical Delivery Manager Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office (Croydon) Security Clearance: SC and NPPV3 Vetting Clearance About the Role As a Technical Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for creating the right environment for cloud and DevOps engineering teams to succeed. You will help teams self-organise, promote transparency, and foster a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence. You will play a key role in one of the UK's most high-profile digital transformation programmes, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of critical national infrastructure. You will oversee the successful delivery of AWS cloud, automation, and CI/CD initiatives by coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing delivery timelines, and ensuring alignment with business and architectural goals. Acting as the bridge between engineering teams and stakeholders, you will guide delivery from concept to completion, ensuring smooth handover into live service operations. Key Responsibilities Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of AWS cloud, DevOps, and automation projects on time and within budget Lead cross-functional teams including cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, architects, developers, service desk engineers, and operations teams Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders Identify technical and delivery risks early and implement effective mitigation strategies Champion Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement across engineering teams Ensure smooth transition from project delivery into live service, including operational readiness and documentation Maintain accurate records of project progress, technical decisions, and delivery outcomes Coordinate complex multi-workstream cloud or platform engineering projects involving automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure modernisation Ensure delivery is technically sound, secure, and aligned with AWS best practices and cloud governance standards Support teams in resolving blockers related to AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud operations Essential Skills and Experience 10 years' experience delivering cloud, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering projects in complex environments Strong understanding of AWS services including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, CloudFormation/CDK, and managed database services Familiarity with DevOps tooling and practices, including: Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) Docker and container orchestration (ECS/EKS) CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, Bitbucket) Python and shell scripting Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023) operational management Experience managing incident, problem, and change processes in cloud environments Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and end users, building strong relationships and credibility quickly Hands-on delivery experience within consultancy, government, or large-scale digital transformation programmes Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with excellent attention to detail Highly organised, able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment What We Are Looking For Ability to manage and build relationships with engineering teams, stakeholders, and third-party suppliers using effective governance mechanisms A delivery-focused mindset with the ability to drive outcomes, manage priorities, and maintain momentum across multiple teams Experience working within Central Government or other regulated sectors Strategic thinking with a focus on customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and cloud platform reliability Why Join Us?
