Job Overview
For our site in Crewe, where our team of 70 colleagues produces small plastic containers, we are seeking a Quality Engineer to support the evaluation and development of current manufacturing and QHSE systems.
The role focuses on improving Safety, Quality and production. It is ideal for a dynamic, organized and ambitious candidate looking to advance their career.
Key Accountabilities
* Support Quality and Production teams with testing and audits to ensure quality requirements are met at all stages of the production process, with ownership for resolving quality and production issues using problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis techniques.
* Conduct studies of current production, process and quality control measures, including capability studies; identify, develop and coordinate improvement programs.
* Own Manufacturing Specification and Process Pack documentation, from initial data capture to document creation and control of issues, and ensure proper use within the Operations team.
* Manage new product and process development projects to ensure QSHE requirements are defined and met, new products are manufacturable and controlled with high repeatability, from concept through to specification issuance and work instructions.
* Work closely with process engineers and maintenance engineers to drive improvement in right‑first‑time KPIs and lead the development of a quality‑focused maintenance program.
* Manage the internal audit programme of product, process and system audits, monitoring Corrective Action Plans.
* Manage the HSE Risk Assessment Programme, scheduling and leading team‑based Risk Assessment Reviews and coordinating action plans.
* Manage the Supplier QSE assessment programme, from supplier assessments to performance measurement and supplier audits.
* Support continued certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, IPPC permit and ISO 45001, including customer and regulatory audits.
* Administer the QSHE system, review and update technical drawings and data.
Requirements
* Degree in Engineering or a Technical Discipline.
* Project management, problem‑solving, organisational and communication skills.
* Knowledge and experience of working within a Quality Management System such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001.
* Working knowledge of Process Control Methodologies including SPC.
* Advanced IT knowledge and capability to lead optimisation and automation of IT system projects.
* Full working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent.
* Computer literate in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
