About us

At House of Baukjen, we make a difference. You can too.

Home to two brands, Baukjen and Isabella Oliver – we create timeless, carefully crafted pieces that empower women. With a clear purpose, we are on a mission to put people and the planet at the heart of everything we do. We are looking to welcome like-minded people to join our family. Those who are passionate about change and hope to leave the world in a better place than it was found.

Being one of the highest scoring B Corps in the UK and Europe, we hold ourselves to high standards and ensure we uphold responsible and ethical practices, proving that fashion can be good. As the only fashion brand ever to receive a United Nations Climate Action Award, we want you to help us shape a future where sustainability is no longer a trend, but the new normal. Are you ready to shake up the fashion industry?

Role Overview

This is a focused, high-impact role at the heart of Baukjen's commercial function. The Merchandiser will own the range planning process end-to-end — building the analytical foundations, capturing lessons from each season, and translating those learnings into a sharper, more commercial forward plan.

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for product and range — ideally with a background in womenswear — who combines strong analytical capability with an instinct for what makes a range work commercially. This person should ideally be comfortable working with AI tools and excited about using technology to work smarter and faster.

The role reports directly into the Head of Merchandising and will work closely with the Creative Director, Design and the wider commercial team. It is suited to someone at Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser level who is ready to take on meaningful ownership and develop quickly in a lean, fast-moving brand environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Range Planning

* Own the build and maintenance of the range plan — tracking options, depth, price architecture, intake phasing and category balance.
* Support the Head of Merchandising in developing range architecture, providing the analytical foundation for investment decisions across categories and price points.
* Monitor the range against planned KPIs throughout the development process, flagging risks and opportunities early.
* Maintain range planning tools and ensure they are accurate, up to date and accessible to cross-functional partners.
* Contribute a commercial point of view in range review meetings — not just the numbers, but a perspective on what they mean for the range.

2. Lessons Learnt & Hindsight Analysis

* Lead the end-of-season hindsight process — producing a thorough, well-structured review of range performance at option, category and total level.
* Go beyond sell-through data to understand the 'why': what resonated with the Baukjen customer, what did not land, and what that means for future ranging decisions.
* Identify repeatable patterns across seasons — in category performance, price point elasticity, colour, fabrication or silhouette — and build these into a living lessons-learnt framework.
* Present findings clearly and confidently, with a concise narrative that connects past performance to future planning recommendations.
* Ensure learnings are documented and carried forward into the next season's range brief — so that insight is cumulative, not lost between cycles.

3. Forward Planning & Forecasting

* Build and maintain the demand plan for the season ahead, working from hindsight, market context and any available customer or channel data.
* Develop option-level forecasts that are grounded in evidence — not just trend or gut feel — and that can be clearly defended in range sign-off meetings.
* Work with the Head of Merchandising to set OTB, ensuring forward buys are disciplined and margin growing.
* Partner closely with the Creative Director to ensure the forward plan reflects the creative vision for the season — bridging commercial requirements and product direction.
* Track and update the forward plan as the season progresses, incorporating trade data and re-forecasting where necessary.
* Bring a proactive— always thinking one season ahead and building the commercial case for the next range.

4. In-Season Trading Support

* Monitor weekly trading performance at option and category level, producing clear and timely trade reports for the Head of Merchandising.
* Identify in-season risks — slow sellers, stock depth issues, intake timing — and propose actionable solutions.
* Support re-order and cancellation decisions with clear analysis and a recommendation.

5. AI Tool Adoption

* Actively use AI tools in day-to-day work and share approaches with the wider team.
* Contribute to the function's AI adoption agenda by testing new tools, identifying practical applications and helping to build repeatable AI-assisted processes.

What We Are Looking For

Experience & Background

* 1–4 years of merchandising experience, at Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser level.
* A background in womenswear is strongly
* Experience in a clothing brand, retailer or DTC business; small or mid-size brand experience is a plus.
* Demonstrable experience in range planning, hindsight analysis or forward forecasting — ideally all three.

Skills & Capabilities

* Strong analytical skills — confident working with data, building models and drawing clear commercial conclusions.
* Excel proficiency: experience with merchandising or planning systems is an advantage.
* Comfortable with AI tools and genuinely curious about how technology can improve commercial planning.
* Clear communicator — able to present analysis and recommendations concisely, both in writing and in meetings.
* Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
* A genuine interest in product — someone who engages with the range as a customer and a commercial thinker, not just as a dataset.

Mindset

* Curious and proactive — always asking what the data means and what should be done about it.
* Comfortable with ambiguity and change; able to adapt quickly in a small brand where priorities can shift.
* Collaborative and low-ego — willing to share knowledge, ask questions and contribute to a team that is building something together.
* Committed to getting it right, not just getting it done — with a high standard for the quality and accuracy of their work.

Our benefits

* Hybrid flexi office working with 2 days working per week at our Headquarters in Camden, London
* Flexi-time schemes based around core working hours 8.45 – 5.30pm, whether in the office or working from home
* 21 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
* Living Wage Employer
* Generous Staff Discount and Sample Sales
* Seasonal clothing allowance
* Generous Friends and Family Discount
* Company Pension Scheme
* Employee Assisted Program (EAP) offering mental wellbeing services
* Cycle to work scheme
