Position: Mathematics PhD
Type: Hourly contractor
Compensation: $70–$80/hour
Location: Remote
Duration
Commitment: 15–20 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
* Collaborate asynchronously with a team of experts in your domain.
* Craft, solve, and review challenging problems with real-world applicability.
* Evaluate and improve AI model performance using domain expertise.
* Shape model reasoning and elevate training data quality.
* Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
Must-Have
* Master's or PhD in Mathematics from a top US university.
* Experience coding in Python and MATLAB for projects or research.
* Field-specific experience in Numerical Linear Algebra, Computational Mechanics, or Computational Finance.
* High attention to detail.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent proficiency in English.
* Based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia.
Start Date
* Late December; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

* Paid onboarding time for up to 1 hour, including screening and onboarding videos.
Compensation & Legal
* Legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor.
* Paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
