Mental Health Support Worker – Essex Road Supported Living, Watford
Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 37.5 per week – shifts early / late (7.45 am start to 10 pm finish). Second weekends off. Flexible shift arrangement.
Salary: £12.71 per hour

The Role
Provide practical and emotional care, enabling service users to live as independently and normally as possible. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, including bank holidays, weekends, and occasional sleep‑ins.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Supervise day‑to‑day care, ensuring service users’ needs are met and they participate in household and leisure activities.
* Ensure the care, welfare, and safety of service users and the health and safety of staff.
* Act as case coordinator: review, reassess, and update person‑centred support plans to meet individual needs.
* Recruit and select staff within an equal opportunities framework.
* Conduct monthly supervisions and participate in staff appraisal programmes.
* Serve as a staff skills coach; deliver team building and training programmes.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, Care Standards, and company policies.
* Prepare service user and staff reports; maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records.
Personal Characteristics
* Diploma in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards one.
* Experience supporting adults with challenging behaviour, learning disabilities, and/or mental health issues.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Confidence working alone or as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Passion for working with vulnerable adults.
* Commitment to safeguarding and high standards of care.
