A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the stroke therapy team based at Peterborough City Hospital. The overall stroke pathway comprises a HASU and ASU at Peterborough City Hospital and acute beds at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
The position is mainly at Peterborough City Hospital; however, flexibility will be required to provide cross-site cover.
We require a motivated, forward-thinking candidate who is passionate about providing high-quality stroke and neuro-rehabilitation in line with the evidence base and national guidelines. The post holder will develop both the quality of the clinical service and the staff that deliver it. Experience in training, clinical leadership and strong communication skills to work alongside stakeholders from across the stroke pathway are essential.
The successful candidate will manage a varied and complex clinical caseload. Regular clinical supervision, managerial support and training opportunities will be provided to ensure personal career development. Weekend / bank holiday working will be required.
Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.
The Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist working with the Stroke Therapy Team develops the quality of the clinical service and staff that deliver it. The post holder will work using an enhanced level of practice, applying specialist knowledge and skills in the field of stroke rehabilitation. They will assess and treat a specialist complex caseload of patients.
They will act as the profession-specific lead to support the training and development of the clinical staff within the Stroke therapy team and the wider multidisciplinary team. The role involves leading on service development, audit and assisting in research initiatives to deliver best practice evidence-based care in line with trust and national priorities. The post holder will be responsible for delivering key quality performance indicators linked to providing high-quality care.
Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.
