The Role Full responsibility for a Year 1 class Leading and developing the schools phonics provision Supporting staff with phonics planning, delivery and assessment Monitoring pupil progress in early reading and phonics Supporting targeted interventions to ensure strong early reading outcomes Creating a structured, nurturing and inclusive learning environment Working closely with senior leaders to support whole-school priorities Who This Role Is Suitable For Experienced Year 1 or KS1 teachers with strong phonics knowledge Teachers currently leading or aspiring to lead a core subject Practitioners confident with systematic synthetic phonics programmes Teachers who value consistency, mentoring and collaboration Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 1 Strong understanding of phonics and early reading development Confidence supporting colleagues and contributing to subject leadership Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one About Prebook Recruitment Prebook Recruitment is a relationship-led education recruitment agency specialising in primary education.
