Children's Home Registered Manager - 2-Bed Service

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week (plus on-call and occasional sleep-in duties as required)
Salary: £46,000 per annum (up to £51,400 achievable with Ofsted and occupancy bonuses)
I am recruiting on behalf of a respected and long-established provider of residential childcare services. We are currently seeking a Registered Manager to lead a 2-bed children's home based in Barnsley. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a small, nurturing setting that focuses on achieving exceptional outcomes for young people.
About the Role
As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring high standards of care and compliance. You'll lead a small staff team, maintain robust safeguarding and operational practices, and create a stable, supportive environment for the young people in your care.
Key Responsibilities
Care & Compliance
Ensure the delivery of person-centred, high-quality care in accordance with legislation, Ofsted SCCIF, and internal policies.
Maintain accurate records and implement systems for monitoring and evaluation.
Oversee and manage all safeguarding responsibilities and ensure compliance with Health & Safety.
Coordinate and chair meetings with staff, external agencies, and families.
Manage all admissions, discharges, care planning, and statutory documentation.
Contribute to service development and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff Management
Recruit, train, and develop a skilled and motivated staff team.
Provide supervision, performance reviews, and support career progression.
Monitor and manage staff rotas and ensure rota coverage.
Address disciplinary and grievance matters in line with organisational procedures.
Financial & Operational Oversight
Monitor and manage the home's budget and resources.
Ensure the property and equipment are maintained to required standards.
Submit timely reports and contribute to leadership forums across the service.
External Relations
Represent the home professionally to external stakeholders and commissioners.
Liaise with referrals teams and contribute to placement planning.
Attend and participate in leadership, management, and therapy-related forums.
About You
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working toward).
At least 2 years' recent experience in a residential children's care setting, including 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection procedures, and children's home regulations.
Experience working with vulnerable or complex young people.
Ability to lead by example, develop staff, and maintain a strong team culture.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and report-writing skills.
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (with business insurance).
Flexible and resilient approach, with the ability to respond to challenges as needed.
