About Bay Leadership Academy
Bay Leadership Academy is a secondary school for 11 to 16 year olds in Morecambe. We joined Star Academies in 2018 and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.
The school was rated ‘good’ in all four areas of the inspection framework during its inspection in October 2022.

We provide a knowledge-based academic curriculum alongside a rich and diverse leadership programme that grows character and inspires charitable and social action. Our pursuit of educational excellence is based upon our fundamental belief that every pupil has the capacity to become a successful and inspirational leader.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Brass and Trumpet Teacher to teach for 6.5 hours per week on a Monday. Qualified teacher status is not a requirement for the role, but the role requires experience in a teaching environment, working with large groups of pupils (15+). The ideal candidate will be a skilled brass musician, preferably with professional performance experience, with potential to expand to other brass instruments including non-valved instruments such as the trombone in future years. Strong instrumental delivery skills and the ability to engage and inspire pupils and deliver high quality teaching is essential. You will be able to demonstrate experience of achieving positive outcomes for pupils, as well as being passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people.
As an unqualified teacher at the school, you’ll join the Star Academies family, a high-performing and supportive network of primary and secondary schools with some of the best teachers in education. This role will be an integral part of the music department and curriculum/timetable, with potential to expand hours over time. During the 2025-2026 academic year, the focus will be on trumpet tuition, with possible expansion to other brass instruments in subsequent years. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to motivate both pupils and colleagues.
You will have:
* An honours degree qualification (typically 2ii or above) or relevant music qualification.
* Innovation and creativity to engage, enthuse and progress learners.
* The ability to teach across the age phase you will be trained for.
* The ability to deliver effective learning and teaching in the classroom.
We are a high-performing multi-academy trust that runs more than 30 primary and secondary schools. We are a values-based organisation committed to improving the life chances of young people in socially and economically deprived areas, helping them succeed at the highest levels of education, employment and the professions. Every day, you’ll be rewarded with the opportunity to shape a young person’s future and embody the qualities needed to succeed.
Professional development is key to our success. We invest in our employees through our professional development hub, offering extensive training, mentoring, and progression opportunities across our growing group of academies. Joining our team could propel your career to the next level.
