*Who We Are*

SupaJam is a music focused post-16 Specialist Provider, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged 16 - 25 year olds across our five bases in Wandsworth, Swanley, Earls Court Canterbury and Brighton.

The majority of our students have a variety of social, emotional or special educational needs, or have previously disengaged from mainstream education.

Our ethos is to be forward thinking, caring and encouraging whilst providing a structured, supportive and non-judgmental environment.

*The Role*

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to teach and support the growth of a brand new college in Swanley. This role would suit candidates with teaching experience and experience of working with young people with special educational needs (SEND). SupaJam Swanley opned its doors in Sepetember 2013 with 7 students and now supports over 70.

We teach the RSL Creative Music Industry (business pathway) at levels 1, 2 and 3. To continue the growth and educational excellence of the organisation we are now seeking an two additional teachers to join our team. Answering to the College Leader, our Teachers are an integral part of our organisation in facilitating inclusive learning environments and delivering our curriculum to the highest standard.

All roles at SupaJam require DBS clearance and appropriate references and recruitment checks prior to joining which will be used to assess the candidate's suitability to work with children and vulnerable young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, background and recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS clearance.

*Our Mission*

To help vulnerable young people who have previously fallen out of formal education to engage, achieve and progress in a unique, inclusive learning environment.

*Duties and Responsibilities*

The Quality of Education

* Plan and deliver high quality teaching that is adapted to meet the needs of all students and supports students to make progress towards their targets.
* Maintain high standards of positive student behaviour, including attendance and punctuality.
* Implement and record high quality assessment to support student learning and progression, assessing students’ work and offering detailed, timely and meaningful feedback in accordance with RSL exam board criteria.
* Read and use resources effectively to ensure all educational needs of students are supported, including students’ Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Develop appropriate resources to support the needs of students.
* Input student grade results into relevant databases and the RSL exam board portal.
* Use administration time effectively to mark, plan, and maintain accurate records across SupaJam systems e.g. behaviour and safeguarding reports.
* Work collaboratively with all departments to support the students with: life skills, enrichment opportunities, careers and work experience, outcomes/transitions beyond SupaJam
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to review the quality of education and contribute to curriculum development.
* Keep up to date with current Further Education and Skills guidance including the new Ofsted toolkit.

Working with Staff

* Ensure all resources are being used appropriately within the department.
* Use time before and after lessons to engage with other teachers and learning support assistants in training, planning and debrief meetings.
* Collaborate with learning support assistants to plan and deliver targeted interventions to students in order to provide additional support.
* Work collaboratively with the College Leader and DSL to keep students safe and remove barriers to education for students by implementing supportive strategies to foster positive engagement.

Working with Students

* Foster positive partnership with parents and guardians including regular communication and updates on student progress.
* Support the wellbeing of all students through ongoing pastoral support and implementing individual strategies, as outlined in EHCPs and intervention plans.
* Effectively communicate with LSPs to ensure the needs of the students are met in every lesson.
* Chair and input into EHCP annual reviews.
* Complete high quality student progress reviews 3x per year to guide the students in their ongoing development.
* Support with external trips and events such as careers trips, work experience, performances, festivals, guest speakers, open evenings etc, including out of hours events throughout the year as directed.
* Deliver wellbeing sessions for students at the end of each day.
* Support students during break times; as per the staff rota.

Personal Development

* Undertake relevant learning and development relating to the role.
* Undertake regular and mandatory training.
* Participate in bitesize and workshop sessions.
* Attend CPD days.
* Take responsibility for personal development and personal objective setting.
* Develop a strong understanding of safeguarding producers in line with SupaJam’s policy.
* Adhere to SupaJam’s safeguarding training, policies, and procedures.

*Person Specification*

_*Essential*_

* Candidates will ideally have Qualified Teacher Status or a Level 5 Teaching Diploma (or equivalent) but a minimum of a Level 3 teaching qualification and be prepared to complete their Level 5 Diploma in Teaching.
* Musical or experience of teaching music in the past (including music technology).
* Candidates must have a minimum of GCSE English and Maths or equivalent recognised qualifications at a level 2.
* The ability to uphold the SupaJam ethos at all times and manage difficult situations calmly.
* Be creative, enthusiastic and resourceful and be able to provide fun and engaging learning sessions.
* Have a great sense of humour, endless patience and the ability to engage with young people on their level.
* A willingness to learn new skills, take on additional responsibility and work as part of a team.
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS.
* Pass all teacher checks.

_*Desirable*_

* Experience of the Rock School Music (RSL) syllabus.
* SEND experience and experience of supporting students with neurodiversity and social, emotional and mental health needs.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Experience of EHCPs and the annual review process
* Play a musical instrument.
* Experience of using Apple Logic Pro or similar.
* Experience or connections in the music industry.
