Job Introduction
We are currently recruiting for two Network Planners (one permanent and one temporary for up to 6 months, subject to review) to join us at our Nottingham depot. Planners design our network and collaborate with Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter, and replace equipment. The role is fast-paced, and your work will directly impact customer service and reliability.
To qualify, you need English and Maths GCSE at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 or above. Evidence of your qualifications will be required.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining office and home working after initial training and depending on business needs.
Main Responsibilities
You will be hands-on and customer-focused, managing multiple projects including designing, costing, and quoting for existing and new electricity network assets. Your key duties include:
* Planning, preparing, and delivering new services, alterations, and small capital projects
* Conducting onsite meetings
* Collaborating with wayleaves/estates specialists to secure third-party agreements for NGED assets
* Reviewing and closing projects financially
* Communicating effectively with customers to manage expectations and resolve queries
* Scheduling contracted works
* Engaging with local authorities and external stakeholders
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will understand customer needs, possess strong communication skills, and be resilient, organized, and able to prioritize tasks. Teamwork is essential, and experience with iPads and computers is required. Mobility across the area is necessary, as standby duties may be required, and a full UK driving license is essential.
You may not have all the skills initially but should have the confidence to develop them through training. You will be expected to undertake a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and complete TAR, including diary entries, tasks, and reports.
Note: You may start at a lower salary until training is completed.
National Grid is committed to safeguarding and may require a DBS check depending on the role, with some roles requiring triannual checks.
