An opportunity has become available for a seasonal Habitat Surveyor post to carry out Integrated Habitat System (IHS) survey in Aberdeenshire for the North East Scotland Biological Records Centre (NESBReC) which is part of Aberdeenshire Council.
Working predominantly outdoors during May–October, you will have excellent botanical knowledge and field identification skills. ;Surveying will use the Integrated Habitat System and GPS enabled hand-held PCs for data capture in the field. Knowledge of habitat surveying at least to Phase 1 Habitat Survey level is required and previous IHS experience is preferable. Ecological, biological or botanical qualification or significant relevant experience necessary. You must be enthusiastic, adaptable, able to travel throughout Aberdeenshire, be happy to carry out lone working in a variety of terrain and in all weathers. Physical effort and stamina is required to undertake survey work. You will report to the NESBReC Co-ordinator and download/upload of data will occur regularly via Microsoft Teams.

Hours of work: This fixed term contract would be to deliver 63 days of survey work during May-October. One working day is 7.25 hours excluding lunch break.
There is flexibility in the work pattern to suit the employee with possible patterns being: 21.75 hours per week (part-time, 3 days per week); or 29 hours per week (part-time, 4 days per week): or 36.25 hours per week (full-time 5 days per week). Working days for the post will be during the period Monday-Friday with no capacity for weekend working.
The start date would be around Monday 27th May, to be confirmed at interview.

It is a material condition of employment for these posts that the employee holds a current full driving licence and has access to a vehicle, whenever required, in order to undertake the full range of duties of the post. As such, these posts are designated as an authorised car user and will be entitled to receive mileage payments.
