Overview
Personal Assistant required to support a young man in the HU9 area with activities including swimming, bowling, and social outings. The role includes assisting with transport, personal care, and accompanying him to appointments and day centres. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Provide 5 hours per week, plus 6 hours once a month on a weekend, with additional hours for holidays and sickness coverage for other PAs.
* Attend and participate in swimming sessions as part of weekly physical therapy (in the water with him) when in a swimming week.
* During non-swimming weeks, accompany him to bowling and other preferred activities, and support outdoor outings and village fetes/community events.
* On Tuesdays, accompany him from his day centre in Cottingham to home; be available to drive his mobility vehicle or be in Cottingham at 2:15 pm to accompany him home by taxi if required.
* Drive and operate his mobility vehicle as needed.
* Ensure safety, sensitivity, and kindness during all interactions; assist with personal care as required.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Essential: a driver with access to a vehicle for mobility transport.
* Experience with or understanding of Autism, Epilepsy, and Cerebral Palsy is preferred; ability to communicate with a non-verbal individual through gestures and basic needs.
* Demonstrated sensitivity, patience, and a caring approach; training provided where needed.
* Willingness to be in the water with him during swimming sessions when required.
* DBS check (clearance) will be required; cost covered by employer/local authority as applicable.
