FCRMS Asset Management Business Systems Team Senior Advisor - 32232

The Environment Agency creates better places for people, wildlife, and the environment. We put the climate emergency at the heart of everything we do and help society adapt to environmental challenges such as flooding, drought, sea‑level rise and coastal change.

Our asset management business system includes carbon management to meet our corporate objective of becoming a Net Zero Carbon organisation. The carbon management process is supported by existing and evolving carbon tools that enable construction projects and suppliers to meet mandatory carbon assessment requirements. The EA produces a carbon footprint for all assets that need to be reduced over future years. The Asset Management Business Systems Team (AMBST) supports all EA teams and suppliers in their use of these carbon tools and ensures they become a core asset‑management system operating alongside other AMBST‑supported tools for the infrastructure programme and asset management.

Working with IT suppliers and colleagues across the EA, including FCRM, Operations teams throughout England and Defra’s Digital, Data and Technology Services (DDTS), and with Local Authorities, Water Companies, Internal Drainage Boards and the civil engineering supply chain, this role will:

* Support EA and external users of operational carbon tools.
* Manage and deliver a range of services to users of carbon tools.
* Agree and maintain services with a range of different user groups.
* Act as a senior product user for digital improvement projects of our carbon tools and data.
* Plan and manage user activities in the implementation of carbon tool changes and improvements.
* Manage the resources and funding for carbon tools support and maintenance.
* Work with operational carbon communities and national leads as required.

We are the Asset Management Business Systems Team, part of the Digital, Data and Evidence team. We manage several Asset Management IT Systems – AIMS PD PoL, PAFs, RMA Portal, FastDraft, Co‑Space, Asite (BIM Document Management) & SBMT. We provide system administration, user support and an advisory role on IT projects, working with suppliers, DDTS, EA business leads and users to ensure improvements are realised that enable Asset Management to deliver efficient asset management outcomes.

Experience / Skills Required

* Experience in asset management and/or infrastructure business processes.
* Experience in digital tool development or user implementation services.
* Experience in development of training and documentation.
* Knowledge and skills in stakeholder engagement and effective communications.
* Ability to identify, analyse, evaluate, and implement improved ways of working.
* Ability to take decisions and solve complex business problems.
* A strong focus on efficiency, innovation, and quality.
* Strong focus on customers and partners and ability to build and sustain relationships.
* Ability to manage yourself and work on your own initiative.

The role is predominantly office‑based, with occasional travel required. Any location for your office base is acceptable. Everyone that joins is required to undertake training and participate in incident response when the need arises. Further information regarding incident response, this role and the employee benefits can be found in the candidate pack. All starters in AMBST receive the necessary training and support to succeed and also have access to fully funded opportunities to develop further academic/professional qualifications. Interviews will be scheduled from the week commencing 1st December 2025.

For additional information or an informal chat about the team and the role please contact Tony Cartwright (tony.cartwright@environment-agency.gov.uk), AMBS Team Leader, or Peter Hewitt (peter.hewitt@environment-agency.gov.uk), AMBST Senior Advisor.
