Wood Digital Consulting (DC) is currently recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer to support one of our UK projects.
This is a hybrid role that can be based anywhere in the UK, mobility and travel to customer sites and face to face meetings with colleagues will be expected as required, followed by site-based work for the main construction execution phase.
Must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
1. Support the Project Construction Site Manager and Project Commissioning Lead in delivery and management of all aspects of mechanical completion and commissioning
2. In accordance with CDM regulations provide Pre-Construction support to the project
3. To study and assess the relevant drawings, specifications, and instruction for the functional area of responsibility.
4. Coordinate with the Commissioning Lead and design team to enhance the design element and highlight any special recommendations to reduce risk or optimise schedule
5. Constructively challenge engineering concepts with a view to minimizing shutdown schedule
6. Input to schedule development, defining execution risks in general, and critical path specific risks during shutdowns
7. Assist with development of the Go Technology database, setting up systems, sub-systems, and check sheet allocation
8. Assist the Commissioning Lead in monitoring the project sites overall site construction and commissioning priorities by system to ensure project teams meet mechanical completion and commissioning target dates
9. Develop, Write, Implement and Review, update relevant Commissioning Test Procedures and controlling master versions
10. Understanding overall Commissioning Strategy for project completion
11. Development of pre-commissioning, commissioning, performance testing procedures in line with National Grid RE-18 procedures
12. Assist in management of Go Technology database at site
13. Assist with check sheet inspection/verification
14. In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and emergency systems
15. Strong understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards (., BS 7671, IEC 60364)
16. Proficiency in conducting functional and performance tests on electrical systems using appropriate testing equipment
17. Interface with Operations Team in commissioning, start-up, and final handover of the facility/plant
18. Help coordinating field activities through discipline lead positions including Operators, Mechanical, Instruments and Electrical
19. Monitor Quality in accordance with Quality plan and ITP’s
20. Attend client / vendor meetings in order to achieve the agreed project goals
21. Input to weekly and monthly reporting
22. Assist Project Commissioning Lead with management of change
23. Help drive safety leadership and ensuring safe delivery of multi-discipline work scopes
24. Input to lessons learned
25. Electrical and Instrumentation Controls background in site commissioning with demonstratable experience
26. Demonstrate commitment to safety through engagement in Commissioning Permit to Work, Electrical Isolation and Safety Work Manuals to ensure efficient and safe execution of the work. Provides input in the field to JSA's and Risk Assessments. Monitor workforce's adherence to Procedures and participate in Safety Walks, attend toolbox meetings
27. To be conversant with construction/commissioning mechanical completion technology
28. Must have strong competency in reading design documentation ., P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical datasheets etc
29. Ability to deliver documentation that is technically correct to the required standard and schedule
30. Understand and control the running of work sites
31. Experience in industries ., Oil and Gas
32. Must have experience in at least one of the following: Ability to determine pass/fail criteria on UPS testing (ITIC), generators and Switchgear, control narratives, compressor commissioning/startup, turbine commissioning/startup
33. Experience in Brownfield upgrades / replacement instrumentation and control projects
34. Experience with dealing with Switch Rooms, Switchboards, Distribution Boards, Lighting, UPS, Instruments, Cable runs, Control rooms, etc
35. Compressor Station/Metering experience is advantageous
36. Must have working knowledge of substations and power systems/quality and their associated protection systems such as overcurrent and unit protection and a thorough understanding of harmonics etc
37. Must have working knowledge of one or more of the following (Flow Computer & Supervisory): Emerson, Siemans, Swinton, Omni, FlowX, EXI, Honeywell (DCS/ Meter suite), PLCs Measurement Technologies, Metering Systems, Flow Computers, PLC & SCADA Systems/Software
38. Strong communication skills
39. Prior experience reviewing commissioning/construction works
40. Well organised and have a keen eye for detail
41. Able to operate in an integrated team environment supporting others with a desire and ability to build trust and respect throughout the team
42. Computer literacy: Microsoft Office: outlook, word and excel (minimum)
