Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based at Absolute Dental Cardiff for a Qualified Dental Nurse / Receptionist. The role involves supporting dentists chairside, preparing and sterilizing instruments, maintaining clinical areas, and ensuring that all infection control and health and safety protocols are followed. The team member will assist with patient care by helping patients feel comfortable, updating records, and managing clinical notes accurately. Reception duties include greeting patients, managing the reception area, answering phone and email enquiries, scheduling and confirming appointments, and handling payments. The role also includes coordinating with the wider dental team, managing patient flow, and supporting administrative tasks such as updating patient databases and handling correspondence.


Qualifications

* Recognized dental nursing qualification and current professional registration (or eligibility to register) with the appropriate regulatory body.
* Proven experience working as a dental nurse, including chairside assistance, instrument preparation, and adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
* Experience in front-of-house or reception duties, including appointment booking, patient check-in/check-out, and managing patient records.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support anxious patients and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Good IT skills and familiarity with dental or medical practice software, as well as basic proficiency in email, scheduling tools, and electronic records.
* Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time and priorities in a busy clinical environment.
* Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and high standards of patient care and customer service.
* Flexibility to support practice needs, including occasional schedule adjustments, and willingness to participate in ongoing training and development.
* Previous experience in a private dental setting and knowledge of relevant guidelines and regulations are advantageous.
