We re looking for a dedicated and proactive Facilities Operative to join our team, working at Bamford Academy in Rochdale. You ll play a vital role in keeping our school buildings and grounds safe, clean, and well-maintained helping to create a positive, welcoming environment for all. This role is available as a job share, offering flexibility for the right candidates while ensuring the highest standards of site care and safety are maintained. The successful candidate MUST either hold a valid ENHANCED DBS on the update service or be prepared to undergo an application for the same. Proof of 5 years address history and identification will be required for the application of the DBS. What you ll do: Unlock the site and school at the beginning of the day and lock the school site and buildings at the end of each day. Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks on site assets and facilities. Carry out daily, weekly and monthly compliance, cleaning, and minor repairs around the school. Ensure the site and facilities are safe, secure, and operating efficiently. Support school events and lettings by setting up rooms and equipment. Oversee contractors and assist with inspections and compliance checks. Portering duties as required. Take pride in maintaining an attractive, well-kept site for all. What we re looking for: A hands-on, practical person with basic DIY and problem-solving skills. Proficient in the use of IT, reporting issues and recording compliance checks on site specific software. Posses Level 2 Qualifications in English and Maths (or Equivalent) Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel Someone who can work independently as well as part of a wider team. Reliable, organised, and safety-conscious. A positive attitude and willingness to learn and complete relevant training (e.g., First Aid, Health & Safety, Fire Warden). Manage contractors effectively, including procuring quotes for minor works and ensuring statutory compliance. Conduct or oversee statutory testing, such as Fire Safety, Asbestos, and Legionella, ensuring all outcomes are accurately recorded using the school's electronic compliance system.
