This includes interdisciplinary working alongside various teams, including civil engineers, offshore installation engineers and cable engineers.
- Prepare technical work scopes and specifications for geotechnical activities, inform the Employer’s geotechnical requirements for ECC contracts and supporting the tender review process as part of the technical team.
- Support project FEED activities such as route and site selection, ground investigation, laboratory testing and engineering feasibility studies.
- Review & accept the contractors’ engineering & design deliverables; balancing technical risk/benefit to make confident design decisions including site supervision of survey and construction works for compliance with the Employer’s requirements, legislation, promoting health & safety
- As a key member of Designer and Principal Designer teams, promote the safety-in-design ethos and discharge these CDM duties on behalf of SSE. Identification and management of geotechnical risk. Reduce risk (technical, quality, health, and safety) to the point of elimination or as low as is reasonably practicable. This includes risk identification, assessment, mitigation, communication and record keeping.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- BEng/BSc qualification level in a relevant geotechnical discipline.
- Strong geotechnical background and experience in supporting the full EPC lifecycle of onshore offshore infrastructure projects. Emphasis on ground investigations, earthworks and foundations for capital infrastructure projects would be highly desirable.
- Experience reviewing Contractor engineering and design deliverables, such as ground interpretive reports, earthwork strategies, horizontal directional drilling reports and foundation designs.
- Knowledge and experience in offshore ground investigation, in particular to cable infrastructure with working knowledge of relevant industry standards, specifications, and best practice.
- Work experience and understanding of ECC contracts and CDM regulations; particularly with respect to roles of Supervisor and Principal Designer.
