Role Overview
Morson Edge is recruiting High Lift Fitter / Testers to join a Military Assembly & Test environment in Wolverhampton. This position sits within a new product introduction and production assembly team, focused on building and testing high-lift actuation systems and associated mechanical assemblies.
Rates
* Standard Days: £22.87 PAYE / £30.40 Umbrella
* Double Days: £26.19 PAYE / £34.81 Umbrella
The Role
You will be responsible for assembling and testing new high-lift actuation products and sub-assemblies, following engineering drawings, manufacturing process plans and acceptance test procedures. The role is hands‑on, accuracy‑driven and carried out in a regulated, quality‑focused production environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble new high-lift units and sub-assemblies using approved mechanical techniques
* Work to engineering drawings, process plans and acceptance test schedules
* Carry out functional and acceptance testing using calibrated test equipment
* Record test results accurately and ensure full product traceability
* Apply metrology principles to verify dimensional and build accuracy
* Support hydraulic assembly and testing activities
* Identify and report non-conformances and support resolution activities
* Participate in fault-finding during assembly and test stages
* Adhere strictly to quality procedures and manufacturing standards
* Support stock control and tool management activities as required
* Safely transport materials, tools and equipment
* Take part in workshops and continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Skills & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Engineering discipline (will accept allied trades)
* Strong experience in mechanical assembly within a precision manufacturing environment
* Good understanding of hydraulic systems and mechanical actuation
* Experience working from engineering drawings and process documentation
* Familiarity with using precision measuring equipment (micrometres, depth gauges, etc.)
* Comfortable working in a regulated Aerospace / Defence environment
* Good communication skills and ability to work independently
Desirable Experience
* Experience in assembly and test of actuation or hydraulic systems
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical and basic electrical schematics
* Experience with fault-finding and diagnostic activities
* Flexible, calm and proactive approach in a fast‑paced environment
You’ll be part of a specialist team assembling brand-new high‑lift systems used in critical Defence applications. Training is provided where required, with opportunities to develop multi‑skilled assembly and test expertise in a modern manufacturing environment.
