About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC Foundation team as a Grants and Governance Senior Coordinator.

The role is key to grow the LFCF’s grant giving and to deliver the Foundation’s ambitious strategy 5-0:

1. Triple beneficiaries to, per season and double our funding to enable this.
2. Deliver or support programmes that have a positive impact on health, learning and employment outcomes in the highest-need communities across the Liverpool City Region
3. Work in + countries internationally with activity delivered through impactful partnerships
4. Continue to lead the sector in research, evaluation and impact measurement
5. Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion are embedded within the culture, practices and policies of our entire employee and participant experience

What will your role involve to contribute to the delivery of the strategy?

6. You will coordinate grant awards along the complete cycle, from pre-application enquiries, through governance processes, to the awarding of grants to successful organisations.
7. You will maximise opportunities to reach the highest-need communities across the Liverpool City Region and beyond by providing responsive and high-quality support to grant applicants, our local communities, beneficiaries, colleagues, and stakeholders.
8. You will work with successful applicants to ensure a seamless and timely process to award grants. Once grants are awarded you will build great relationships with our grant recipients, and support their compliance with our grant policy and procedures, providing advice and guidance where needed,
9. You will deliver the schedule of monitoring returns and reporting from grant recipients, ensuring we can capture beneficiary data, and report accurately on evaluation and impact measurement.
10. You will help organise and take part in open events and stakeholder consultations to promote our grant giving opportunities, getting to know our communities so we are better able to support them and deliver our charitable objectives.
11. You’ll develop a deep understanding of our processes, so you are equipped to troubleshoot problems as they arise and know when and how to escalate to colleagues, and you’ll contribute ideas to ensure processes are as efficient as possible so we can make the most of our resources and impact as many beneficiaries as we can.
12. You will produce reports to evidence achievement against the strategic targets.
13. You’ll work across other areas of the charity’s governance when needed, with the opportunity to learn more and develop in sport charity governance, with the possibility of formal training and qualifications.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, You will bring substantial experience from a similar role within a registered or exempt charity, ideally within a charitable company structure like ours and you will understand governance frameworks and how to work effectively within them.

You’re someone who lives by strong values, treats everyone with dignity and respect, and actively champions equality, diversity, and inclusion. You will thrive in diverse environments and enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life. Your communication style is natural and approachable—whether in person or in writing. As well as, highly organised and detail-oriented, you’re confident interpreting and applying policies, procedures, legislation, and regulatory guidance. You will be a skilled administrator who keeps things running smoothly.

Your written communication is clear and professional, and you’re comfortable with numbers—confident using Excel to manage budgets and produce insightful management reports. You will be digitally savvy and experienced across a range of platforms and tools, and you’re always open to learning new ones. You will deliver excellent customer service, often acting as the first point of contact for clients or service users, and you know how to make people feel heard and supported. You will also bring experience in line management, with a collaborative and empowering approach to leading others.

This is a full-time permanent role working hours per week. Your main base will be our community facility at Anfield Sports and Community Centre but you will also be required to attend other places of work including our city centre offices.
