This role is suited for a proactive individual capable of making engineering decisions that extend into factory and hangar environments. The position is for a Mechanical and/or Avionic/Electrical Product Review Engineer within Boeing Defence UK (BDUK), reporting to the Design & Production Engineering Manager.
The successful candidate will be trained to hold authorisation/certification for the applicable aircraft platform, conduct root cause analysis, develop dispositions for non-conformances (NCRs), and support process and procedure improvements. They will also identify, document, and communicate deviations impacting product design and safety, and coordinate with the Design organisation to resolve airworthiness issues.
Daily responsibilities include creating design solutions for NCRs, correcting build or design errors, and considering factors such as structures, interiors, payloads, electrical systems, and aerodynamics. The role involves providing procedures, repair advice, and technical data, utilizing engineering drawings, schematics, and supplier data. The candidate must be proactive, able to make informed decisions, and engage with the production team on-site in Birmingham. This is a full-time, on-site position (Monday-Friday).
Roles and Responsibilities
* Apply Boeing design engineering principles to resolve technical, operational, and quality issues.
* Develop engineering solutions for product and process issues during production.
* Conduct failure and root cause analyses; provide dispositions for non-conformances; support safety and design intent deviations.
* Develop customer communication for safe operation and maintenance.
* Implement product and process improvements.
* Represent engineering in post-production environments.
* Ensure supplier and partner compliance with Boeing standards.
* Design interim structural repairs and conduct static strength analyses.
* Develop non-destructive testing procedures and perform static strength analysis.
* Provide technical solutions to complex problems, ensuring they are practical and align with organizational standards.
* Work independently, developing approaches to solutions with general direction and review.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
* Knowledge of aircraft systems
* Strong communication skills
* Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel)
Preferred:
* Aircraft maintenance or operations experience
* Experience with major repairs
* Ability to plan work and evaluate project metrics
* Experience in aircraft fleet maintenance (desirable)
