Apprentice Machine Line Operator

The Opportunity
Our Apprentice Machine Line Operator program is designed to enable the successful applicant to complete a modern apprenticeship. You will work alongside time served employees learning key skills on the machine line and develop skills with experienced colleagues such as Welder Fabricators. You will attend college to complete the required qualifications and can follow on with an HNC.
The course includes milling, turning, bench fitting and a small aspect of welding.
As a JBT Marel Apprentice, your duties will include:
Duties and Training
While at College
* Attend college on the days and times associated with the qualification and as agreed by tutors and managers
* Complete the required work associated with SVQ assessments and portfolios in a timely manner
While at Work
* Learn all processes, safety aspects and equipment within the machine line
* Learn to safely operate CNC saws, lathes, milling machines, press brakes, laser, LISSMAC and other machinery
* Learn safety procedures and shop floor protocols
* Work with different materials and thicknesses and understand related engineering processes such as measuring, marking out, dressing and reading drawings to a high standard
* Work with the training coordinator to complete reports and knowledge questions to gain core competencies of the machine line

There will be a mix of college and in-house training and continual professional development as part of the program. An optional HNC Engineering Systems is available through West Lothian College.
In return, you will receive a starting rate dependent on age and qualifications, paid on the 23rd of each month.
