Clinical Lead - Theatres

37.5 hours per week
Up to £46,800 per annum
We are looking for a Clinical Leader for our Hospital to help us build a healthier nation. You’re registered with the appropriate governing body and you have the relevant qualifications and post registration in surgery/anaesthetics experience, including as a Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
With strong clinical leadership, you will guide your team a shared vision promoting innovation and sustainability. As a clinical leader, you will have good communication and organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team, knowledge and understanding of running a smooth & effective department equipment is also essential.
Ideally, you will hold a Level 5 qualification in Leadership (or equivalent experience), reflecting your commitment to professional development and high standards of team management.
As a Clinical Leader, you will:
1. Support the Theatre Manager in the efficient running of the Theatre and Recovery areas
2. Co-ordinate activity and be responsible for patient care and safety
3. Be instrumental to the patient experience, ensuring seamless, personalised care
4. Work well with consultants who are experts in their field
5. Apply your knowledge and skills in assessment, care planning and delivery
6. Champion a supportive, enabling culture within the theatre and recovery team, promoting staff wellbeing and patient safety
Conduct and organize the Clinical/ Surgical and Endoscopy team within theatre, which include the smooth running of the theatre lists and organizing booking forms and assisting sessions in theatres
7. Work collaboratively and flexibly across the theatre suites to accommodate the service demands of each department, which include Endoscopy, General, Orthopedics, Gynae
8. Promote effective clinical risk management and governance within the department, including safety and risk management, quality improvement and ensure policies and procedure, to enhance patient care and service delivery.
9. Have extensive knowledge required for dealing with audits and equipment.
10. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of surgical techniques and associated equipment
11. Have ample opportunities for continuous growth and personal development, which can include Surgical First Assist training.

The Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital is situated next to the Nuffield Health Devonshire Gym, in Derriford, Plymouth and we have been part of the Plymouth community since 1971. We have 3 main theatres – 2 laminar flow and 1 digital, a fully JAG accredited endoscopy suite, a 35-bedded ward with one 4 bedded bay and one 2 bedded bay. Our outpatients department has 12 consulting rooms. We carry out treatment under a range of specialities including Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery and Neurosurgery. We recently were rated in the top 50 hospitals in the country for our total hip replacement patient outcomes.
