We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Lawyer This will be on an initial 6-month contract with a possible view to a further extension. The purpose of the role is to provide legal advice on and manage a caseload of housing matters including rent arrears, housing possession, housing fraud, ASB, encroachments/trespass plus more. Key skills/experience required: It's essential that you are a qualified solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive Experience of public sector housing litigation, debt recovery and insolvency procedures Good understanding of debt recovery and insolvency procedures Knowledge of the Housing Act 1985 and Civil Procedure Rules Excellent written and communication skills Strong negotiation and presentation skills. Experience of effective case management to Lexcel standards. Further responsibilities: Provide expert advice to client departments on housing law and deal with housing possession casework Appear as an advocate in the county court in respect of non-contested possession matters and other appropriate hearings. Deal with breaches of covenant, leasehold service charges recovery, and other debt cases including non-payment of commercial rents. Deal with encroachments/trespass on City-owned/managed land. Work collaboratively and provide legal and technical support to other fee earners as required including working in a team on special projects
