School Site Supervisor (Caretaker ) – Blackburn
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Site Supervisor to join a local school in Blackburn. If you're practical, organised, and enjoy DIY or general maintenance work, this could be the ideal role for you.
Key Details
Hours: 25 per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Contract: Temp to perm
The successful candidate will be responsible to the Headteacher/SBM for security, janitorial duties and aspects of general maintenance.
Main Responsibilities
Open and secure the school, including alarm system management
Support and monitor a team of cleaners
Conduct regular safety and maintenance checks
Perform general repairs, minor plumbing, decorating, and DIY tasks
Light gardening and grounds maintenance (weeding, leaf clearing, litter picking)
Ensure safe access during adverse weather (e.g. snow, ice, leaves)
Monitor and report site issues or damages to senior staff
Support school events by setting up furniture and equipment
Liaise with contractors and record utility meter readings
Re-stock dispensers hand towels / toilet rolls all consumables on site
What We're Looking For
Experience in cleaning, maintenance, gardening
Practical skills in DIY or trades (caretaker experience a plus, but not essential)
Good communication and time management
Reliable, proactive, and willing to learn (training provided)
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Willing to undertake online training as needed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
