Your role as a Transport Operator

Responsibilities
* Provide drivers with comprehensive briefings before their shifts, outlining tasks, schedules, and safety guidelines.
* Make real-time adjustments to transportation plans based on new information, ensuring factory clearance, inbound collections, and outbound deliveries are effectively managed.
* Perform administrative traffic duties with high accuracy and professionalism.
* Monitor transportation schedules in advance, proactively addressing potential issues to ensure smooth operations.
* Work closely with the wider traffic team to ensure the efficient coordination of transportation operations, addressing any challenges or issues that may arise.
* Escalate and report vehicle accidents promptly to line management.
* Interact with customers as needed, addressing inquiries, providing assistance, and maintaining positive relationships to enhance customer satisfaction.
* Meet weekly and monthly performance targets (KPIs) in alignment with business goals and Customer Service Level Agreements, escalating issues as necessary.
* Utilise IT systems such as Transport Management Systems (TMS) and tracking screens to ensure system accuracy and efficient operations.
* Ensure all live changes are accurately reflected in the system for seamless tracking and reporting.
* Verify the authenticity and validity of driver licenses to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
* Log and monitor driver absences, keeping accurate records for HR and operational planning purposes.
Qualifications
* 5+ GCSEs or equivalent; additional qualifications in logistics or related field advantageous.
* Prior experience in transportation logistics, administrative support, or customer service roles in a fast-paced environment is advantageous.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, customers, and team members.
* Proficiency in computer applications and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Transport Manager CPC would be desirable.
