Research Fellow - Eating Disorders Research Manager (internal only) - Strand, London, WC2R 2LSTHIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLYAbout us:We are recruiting a highly motivated Research Fellow/Research Manager to oversee the complex range of eating disorders and related mental health projects hosted within Professor Gerome Breen’s group at the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre. This is a crucial role requiring an extremely well-organised operational task leader, responsible for overseeing the delivery of these complex projects; coordinating the activities of a team of research assistants, liaising with clinical recruiters, researchers and managing objectives to provide output at a satisfactory level. You will be based in the KCL Social, Genetic, and Developmental Psychiatry Centre, within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN). These centres offer a diverse research environment that is open, welcoming and supportive to all. The faculty-wide initiatives are supported by an active Diversity & Inclusion Team.About the role:The post-holder will manage a diverse team and resources across multiple projects, including: • The Eating Disorders Clinical Research Network (EDCRN)• The Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative UK (EDGI UK)• Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression (GLAD) The post-holder will provide specialist expertise in eating disorders and related mental health problems and contribute to the strategic trajectory of projects within the group. Applications from individuals with lived and living experience of eating disorders and related mental health problems are actively encouraged. Oversee the complex portfolio of eating disorders and related mental health research projects within Prof Breen’s group, ensuring successful research delivery in areas including: participant recruitment, patient and public involvement, ethics and research governance, sample handling and biobanking, clinical liaison and implementation, communication and engagement, monitoring and evaluation. Manage and organise resources within the portfolio, ensuring the efficient utilisation of resource across the group. Develop research objectives, projects and proposals across the portfolio, alongside Prof. Breen and other project leads. Line manage staff in the research study recruitment team and sibling eating disorder projects (e.g. the EDCRN); setting objectives, providing ongoing development and identifying and resolving further training and support needs. Proactively identify and resolve problems which may arise in relation to the projects in the portfolio. Identify additional sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds. Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including people with lived and living experience, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, funders, policymakers and partner organisations to facilitate research and service improvement initiatives. Provide specialist expertise in the area of eating disorders and related mental health problems, acquired through lived/living experience and/or previous employment. This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 29/10/2026.
