Graduate Acoustics Physicist Applied Science Team: Our Applied Science team are a multi-disciplinary team who are involved on a range of critical customer projects and our work encompasses world-leading research (exploring the ‘art of the possible’) to comprehensive evaluation and testing of systems and components - as well as supporting the training of service personnel. Our work can involve the modelling of scenarios but a key part of your work is likely to involve working in laboratories and facilities. These are are often unique in the work undertaken and safe-working in these areas is paramount. Our EM & Acoustics Group works at the forefront of science & technology in the world of applied physics, mathematics, engineering and material science. In our group, we develop novel technologies and carry out research, development and experimentation for both commercial partners and the UK Ministry of Defence. Our work is critical to advancing the technologies and materials available as well as their application to the end user. The primary focus of our Acoustics physics graduate role is to work with our core teams to investigate material options and their respective performance when subjected to customer-specific operational scenarios. This can range from developing models in order to understand the performance of various materials, carrying out standard quality assurance measurements and analysing data collected from prototype samples. Another avenue of work is to improve the breadth of testing capabilities offered by QinetiQ to customers both existing and new to make sure we keep pace with an ever evolving world.
