We are working closely with a well-regarded secondary special school in Wednesbury to recruit a dedicated and skilled QTS-qualified Science Teacher to join their team in September 2025. This role is ideally suited to a confident and adaptable teacher with experience of, or a strong interest in, working with pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). About the School * A dedicated special educational needs (SEN) secondary school supporting learners aged 11–16. * The school specialises in provision for students with MLD and ASC, many of whom have EHCPs and require carefully differentiated support. * Staff work collaboratively to deliver a curriculum that balances academic progress with social, emotional, and personal development. * Class sizes are small (6–10 pupils), with high levels of classroom support from experienced teaching assistants. * The school is led by a supportive senior leadership team who are committed to staff development, inclusive practice, and student achievement. Role Overview As the Science Teacher, you will: * Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, tailored to students’ individual learning profiles. * Use creative, multisensory and practical teaching strategies to support pupils with diverse needs. * Work closely with SENCOs, therapists, and teaching assistants to deliver a holistic approach to learning. * Foster a safe and positive learning environment that encourages confidence, independence, and curiosity in Science. * Contribute to termly progress reviews and help formulate and implement EHCP targets. * Ensure high expectations and consistency in behaviour, classroom routines and student engagement. Candidate Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have: * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential. * Experience teaching Science at secondary level (KS3 and/or KS4). * A clear understanding of differentiation and inclusive practice, particularly for learners with MLD and ASC. * Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient teaching style. * A proactive and collaborative approach to teaching, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. * A genuine passion for improving outcomes for pupils with additional learning needs.
