Job overview
A rare opportunity has arisen for full or part time Clinical Support Workers to join our friendly team working in the Kendal Urgent Treatment Centre (KUTC) at Westmorland General Hospital.
The department currently sees around 32,000 patients a year with minor injury/illness. We pride ourselves on our friendly, hardworking team and our forward thinking approach to the care of our patients.
Working closely with our community nursing and Acute Trust colleagues we aim to provide accessible and credible services.
We will consider applications for both full and part time hours.
Main duties of the job
The job holder will be actively involved in providing patient care under the supervision of a registered professional.
Applicants need to be highly focused, enthusiastic and motivated; able to demonstrate appropriate skills for the role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to use your own initiative is essential as is the ability to plan and organise your time and to work under pressure.
A flexible approach to working as the post requires shift work including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. The unit is open 7 days a week, 365 days of the year from 8am to 11pm, with patients being able to book in until 10pm.
The successful applicant will possess
* Basic Literacy and Numeracy skills
* NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or care Related Area
* Care Certificate or the willingness and ability to undertake
* A minimum of 6 months experience of working in a healthcare setting preferably Urgent Treatment Centre or Emergency Departments, delivering clinical or personal care
* Full training and development will be available to support the skills and knowledge required within this role
Working for our organisation
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust operates from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH), the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH), as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe and Ulverston Community Health centre.
FGH and RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. in addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Person specification
NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or Care Related Area
* NVQ level 3/Care Certificate or similar
* Able to perform venepuncture
* Able to record observations of pulse, blood pressure, O2 sats, and resps
* Willingness to undertake further training e.g. cannulation; application of plaster or paris casts
* Experience working with computer systems
* Experience of working with minor injuries
