Office Location: We are pleased to announce that from mid-2026, our offices in Wokingham and High Wycombe will move into a modern, state-of-the-art Johnson & Johnson office in central Maidenhead, conveniently situated next to the train station Role Purpose: Johnson & Johnson is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior HEMAR Portfolio Lead to guide our Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Team in driving accelerated market access and funding for our key brands. This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a leadership role within the Health Economics and Market Access (HEMAR) team, reporting directly to the Director of HEMAR. About the HEMAR Team: As a core function of our broader Patient Access department, the HEMAR team is dedicated to optimizing the value of our company and its products. We aim to establish a positive external perception among payers, effectively communicate our innovative offerings to patients, and engage with regional health services and the community at large. Key Role responsibilities include: Access Strategy Ownership: Spearhead the access strategy for early-stage indications and own the development and execution of access strategies for assigned brand(s), guiding the HTA team in designing effective models and implementing studies that address evidence gaps and enhance commercial opportunities. Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the Patient Access Lead on various teams, including the Country Value Team (CVT) and the European Center of Excellence (CoE). Foster collaboration and information sharing to ensure alignment of objectives and shape product strategies effectively. Communication and Influencing: Utilize exceptional communication and influencing skills to advocate for access strategies and foster relationships with key stakeholders, including clinicians, patient organizations, HTA experts, and payers/HTA officials, ensuring a favorable evaluation of designated products. High-Quality Submissions: Accountable for the management and delivery of top-quality submissions to national and local health technology assessment organizations, such as NICE, to achieve business objectives effectively. Influence Evidence Generation: Collaborate with Global and EMEA partners to shape clinical and health economic evidence generation plans, ensuring that UK payer requirements are met through proactive communication and engagement with the European Centre of Excellence and EMEA functional networks. Team Management and Development: Mentor and lead a team comprising HEMAR Managers, Senior Associates, Associates, and students, promoting a sense of belonging and team spirit within the HEMAR organization. Strategic Project Development: Support the formulation of recommendations for ABPI forums on NHS/HTA consultations and actively contribute to strategic initiatives that advocate for J&J's objectives in the evolving HTA landscape. Functional and Technical Skills: Commercial Acumen : Demonstrate a deep understanding of wider business strategy, translating it into clear objectives and prioritized actions. Strategic Thinking : Grasp the bigger picture and know when to focus on details to align team efforts with overall strategy and business goals. Relationship Building : Establish trust across the business and the external environment by being technically excellent, open and honest, credible, and reliable. Communication and Influencing : Present complex technical data clearly, influencing stakeholders by understanding their needs and pressures to anticipate their positions and priorities. Planning and Organizing : Exhibit strong project planning and budget management skills with an openness to change. Innovative Analysis and Solutions: Drive the adoption of innovative methodologies and solutions to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Drive and Resilience : Proactively identify opportunities for HEMAR to add value to sustain business success, modeling tenacity and setting clear expectations and deliverables for the team. Leadership Experience : Bring line management experience, proficiency in leading strategic projects, and strong coaching and mentoring skills. Technical Expertise : Have experience in health economics, systematic literature reviews, protocol writing, real-world evidence (RWE), HTA methodologies, and keeping up to date with NHS policies. Qualifications: A postgraduate degree (e.g. MSc, PhD) in Health Economics, RWE, Health Service or related field (Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data science, Epidemiology, etc.) 10 years of experience in both Health Economics and Market Access and track record of developing junior staff with both technical and leadership skills is required (3 years) Knowledge and applied experience in at least one of the following therapeutic areas: Oncology, Infectious Diseases & Vaccines, Pulmonary diseases, Neuroscience, Immunology, Cardiovascular & Metabolism and/or Ophthalmology is preferred Deep understanding of Health Economics concept and evidence synthesis techniques Strong Project Management capability with adherence to strict timelines Ability to work effectively in a complex, diverse and matrix environment Required Skills: Preferred Skills:
