Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Industrial Site Location: Rye, East Sussex Salary: Circa £32,000 Hours: Day Shift Take a hands-on role supporting the engineering function of an industrial site, maintaining mechanical process equipment and helping keep operations safe and efficient. Directly support the engineering team by being responsible for the mechanical maintenance of industrial process equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, safe operations, and compliance with regulatory standards. Scope of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Position To be responsible for maintaining all mechanical equipment across the site, specifically: Breakdown response and repairs Planned, preventative maintenance Project support with new installations Main Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and compliance inspections/checks of process equipment Undertake fault finding and repair on mechanical, pneumatic, and rotating plant systems Conduct planned, preventive maintenance tasks consistently and diligently Proactively interrogate CMMS and liaise with engineering management to plan reactive and PPM work Liaise with and direct external contractors undertaking work on site Anticipate mechanical spares requirements, liaising with vendors and management to maintain appropriate stores Carry out work under permit within Safe System of Work framework Ensure all health, safety, and environmental regulations and conditions are adhered to Maintain accurate record of work carried out within CMMS, including tasks completed, parts used, and equipment condition Work to and in compliance with written maintenance and operational procedures Maintain good housekeeping standards across the whole site Skills Industrial pipe fitting Pump maintenance Comfortable operating a computerised maintenance management system (SAP or similar) Mechanical fitting and troubleshooting experience Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, schematics, and technical instructions Computer literacy: proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Qualifications Recognised apprenticeship or vocational qualification in mechanical engineering or related subject Personal Attributes Good interpersonal and communication skills – able to liaise with management, staff, contractors, and suppliers Strong problem-solving skills, with a positive, proactive approach Can work independently using own initiative Works well under pressure, maintaining a logical approach Demonstrates understanding and application of maintenance best practices Understands the importance of planned and predictive maintenance Willing to learn and undertake additional on- and off-site training as required Physically fit and able to work at height (some lifting required) Apply via Senex Recruitment for this Mechanical Maintenance Engineer job If you’re an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking for a challenging and varied role on an industrial site in Kent, we’d like to hear from you.
