Overview
Environment Manager BBV at HS2. Responsible for providing professional and technical support in assuring environmental minimum requirements are met, design and construction comply with organisational and sponsor requirements and policies, environmental commitments, environmental law and regulations. Provide guidance on environmental design solutions and ensure environmental issues and constraints are considered in project design.
Salary and Benefits
Base salary: £41,092pa to £48,344pa depending on skills and experience

Responsibilities
* Support technical assurance through production, checking and submission of assurance evidence for technical stage gates; assure design and construction comply with technical and sponsor requirements, environmental commitments, and environmental law and regulations.
* Support the Senior Environment Manager in organising, coordinating and undertaking the environmental element of HS2 risk-based technical assurance of works performed and assured by Integrated Project Teams (IPT).
* Authorise Mandatory Approvals by ensuring contractor designs and construction works follow the Environmental Minimum Requirements (EMRs), with emphasis on the General Principles and the CoCP.
* Manage and communicate HS2 Environment & Sustainability requirements to Integrated Project Teams’ contractor.
* Provide guidance for environmental design solutions ensuring environmental issues and constraints are key considerations in project design.
* Assist the Senior Environment Manager with internal and external reporting of environmental matters.
* Liaise with technical stakeholders via forums at local, regional and national levels and with the local community on sensitive issues.
* Work with other technical specialists to develop appropriate and cost-balanced mitigation strategies and solutions.
* Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work and support organisational policies on EDI.
Qualifications and Experience
* Knowledge of applicable UK environmental law and other relevant construction regulations (including CDM).
* Understanding of the Regulatory/Legislative Framework relevant to HS2.
* Commercial awareness including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets and integrated solutions that meet functional requirements.
* Membership of an appropriate professional institution or equivalent experience.
* Experience in managing standards, engineering and environmental activity on large, complex major projects/programmes.
* Experience of managing competing project, engineering and environmental demands with cost and schedule implications.
Knowledge
* Environmental law and regulatory framework relevant to HS2; CDM regulations.
* Data management concepts including information management, modelling and data security; basic data creation and visualization; working under supervision of a line manager or with a Subject Matter Expert.
