Role Overview
The School Business Manager will lead all aspects of business management for the school in close partnership with the Headteacher, the Local Trust Committee and the DDAT Central Team. Responsibilities include line management of support staff, coordination of school business processes and active participation in Trust‑wide initiatives across Derby and Derbyshire.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement business strategies that support the school’s vision and values.
* Manage school budgets, forecasting, procurement and financial reporting.
* Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and Trust policies.
* Lead, coach and support support staff in their daily duties.
* Collaborate with the Headteacher and the DDAT Central Team on school improvement and CPD initiatives.
* Represent the school in Trust meetings and external engagements.
Qualifications
* Relevant experience in a similar school business management role within the education sector.
* Strong organisational and leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing teams.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of finance, governance, HR, health and safety and premises management within a school environment.
* Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
