Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has become available in our busy Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Sarcoma surgery unit for a period of 6 months with a potential possibility of extension at StR Higher level. This is covering a vacancy within a formally recognised deanery training post. The successful candidate will be given the same training opportunities as those on a recognised training programme.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for exposure to a large number of general surgery cases as well as subspeciality practice in HPB and Sarcoma surgery. Depending on the level of experience of the candidate the role can accommodate the opportunity to be involved in major complex surgeries, but also refine technique in Laparoscopic upper GI surgery including cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration. The successful candidate will participate in the standard work of the unit, including commitment to the general surgery on call rota in line with other middle grade doctors on the general surgical unit.
