Your new role
As a Senior Lawyer within the Children's Social Care team, you'll manage and advise on a wide range of legal matters including care proceedings, adoption, and international issues. You'll also lead on complex cases and supervise up to three legal assistants responsibilities will include:
* Managing Deprivation of Liberty (DOL) and Secure Accommodation proceedings.
* Drafting applications, threshold statements, case summaries, and orders.
* Handling Section 7 and Section 37 matters.
* Providing advocacy in court.
* Advising on all aspects of care and adoption proceedings.
* Leading routine and complex cases under the direction of the Principal Lawyer.
* Supervising and supporting legal assistants to deliver successful outcomes.
This role offers hybrid working, with a requirement to be on-site at least two days per week.
What you'll need to succeed
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive with a current practising certificate (England & Wales).
* 1-3 years post-qualification experience in the social care sector.
* Strong understanding of local government and experience in a political environment.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Proven experience in the public sector, ideally within local government.
* Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage complex workloads and meet deadlines.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
