Overview
To provide patients with a polite, helpful and efficient first point of contact. Take responsibility for organising and booking clinicians’ telephone and procedure appointments in a competent manner. Ensure all functions are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures, protocols and time-scales. Report to the Reception Team Lead as necessary.
Main responsibilities
* Make and alter appointments for patients using the EMIS Web computer system
* Handle patient enquiries on the telephone and face to face
* Liaise with the prescribing team and give out prescriptions; address any prescription queries
* File letters and results in patient notes; enter results data on the computer
* Provide test results to patients with accuracy; offer general health guidance
* Liaise with hospitals, the primary care team and outside agencies; arrange hospital transport
* Register new patients, including temporary and immediately necessary registrations
* Process samples and prepare forms/labels for the laboratory
* Take payments for medical examinations, private consultations, letters and medical reports
* Transfer calls to different departments and handle photocopying
* Observe clinics running times, inform patients waiting and offer apologies
* Complete online and on-site training (e.g., resuscitation, data security, confidentiality, health and safety)

Essential: Experience not necessary as training will be given
Desirable: Reception/office work experience
Qualifications
Essential: GCSE Grades A-C
Desirable: Previous experience in an office environment or GP Practice

Salary: £12.25 per hour
Contract: Fixed term (12 months)
