Tony Gee and Partners is looking for a Business Development Director for its UK region. This is an opportunity for a talented and dynamic individual with proven capability and experience to join a growing business.
This is a highly influential role and with a portfolio of established contacts and a suitable industry profile you will work alongside other senior colleagues on the regional leadership team to lead the UK BD and tendering teams to deliver our market strategies in the UK and our work winning success.
The Role
To continue the delivery of the Tony Gee restructuring and succession plan we are looking for an experienced Business Development Director for our UK regional operation.
The role is UK wide and has a number of key elements and associated activities to it which are outlined below.
Provide appropriate support to the UK Region as Business Development Director
The UK Business Development Director is an outward looking client facing role and provides a senior level of interface with existing and new clients. The role provides direction to the Business Development Management team to deliver regional strategies and business plans and inputs into future market development. It also has a communication line to the Group Business Development Director where the role will represent UK BD interests at Group level.
1. Leverage existing strong relationships with UK clients and provide senior level client interface when required
2. Direct and interface with business development team colleagues
3. Identify and generate new client opportunities
4. Ensures client interfaces are managed across the UK operation
5. Work with Business Development & Client Relationship colleagues to identify opportunity and compile consolidated pipeline information
6. Liaise with Tony Gee Heads of Sector and Office Leads to understand how specific UK opportunities align with the company and sector strategies
7. Regular reporting to Group BD Director on up-and-coming or important future opportunities and major pursuits
8. Support key account management activities, including client feedback and lessons learned
9. Will have suitable technical credentials to be able to represent Tony Gee capabilities across diverse forums
10. Attends industry events to represent the company
11. Represents company interests on recognised industry (volunteer) bodies
Provide leadership and line management of UK regional business development team and tenders and proposals team
The role provides direction and line management to the UK business development managers and the UK bid support team. This will include representing these functions across the business and ensuring that connection and communication is delivered. You will be responsible for the growth and development of these teams to meet the needs of the UK operation.
The role will involve active engagement with the business across the UK to ensure alignment of resources across our portfolio and identify targets suited to our existing technical skills.
12. Supports Business Development Managers in their role
13. Supports Senior Proposals Manager in their role
14. Supports tendering activity when required (quality reviews and the like)
15. Identify requirements for establishment of bidding team (and suitable lead) at early bid stages (i.e. multi-disciplinary)
16. Work with Tenders & Proposals team to run and manage any bid in accordance with company procedures
Provide Business leadership to the UK operation as a member of the UK Leadership Team
The UK Regional Business Development Director also fulfils a role on the UK Leadership team as UK BD Lead. This element of the role provides informed input to the UK region to ensure the business is developing the UK project pipeline in accordance with the objectives set by the UK business plan, to ensure that the business secures suitable work and the business is profiled to the UK industry in a manner consistent with Tony Gee values, identity and culture. At UK level the UK BD Lead provides co-ordination and interface between the UK Leadership Team and Business Development and bidding workstream activities. This includes:
17. Supports the UKLT to achieve the UK regional targets and objectives
18. Ensures the UK develops and maintains a consistent pipeline in accordance with the UK business plan
19. Inputs to the corporate profile ensuring promotion of values, identity and culture
20. Retains oversight and has overall responsibility for UK regional business development workstreams being business development & client relations, tenders & proposals
21. Directs and manages BD and bid team staff to support UK operations
22. Reports BD and bidding activity to the UKLT
23. Contributes to the development of UK strategy
24. Identifies new UK markets
25. Reports UK pipeline, order book and work winning activity to UKLT
26. Identifies Maestro development for pipeline and client management purposes
