Streamline Recruitment are working with a well-established logistics business who are looking to appoint a Head of Road Freight Operations at their site in Thurrock.
This is a hands-on role, leading a small team with a focus on improving operational efficiency, implementing effective processes, and driving profitability — all while ensuring exceptional customer service. You'll also take ownership of compliance across import/export procedures, support ongoing team development, and play a key role in the next phase of operational growth.
The Role:
1. Oversee the day-to-day running of road freight operations
2. Manage and develop a small team, including appraisals, reviews, and disciplinaries
3. Ensure full compliance with customs regulations, H&S, and ISO standards
4. Identify and implement process improvements across the operation
5. Collaborate closely with warehousing and contract logistics teams
6. Attend client meetings and contribute to business reviews and wider strategy
What We’re Looking For:
7. Proven experience in a freight or transport management role
8. Strong understanding of import/export operations and procedures
9. Confident team leader with a track record of supporting development and driving change
Hours:
Monday to Friday – 45 hours per week
Salary & Benefits:
