Care café coordinator
Working a minimum 14 hours per week.
£12.50 per hour
The Wait 'er while café is a well-established and much-loved community café based in Bullion Hall Community Centre open from 8.30am to 2.00pm. The café is staffed by adults with learning difficulties who are supported to develop independent living skills, build self-confidence and make long term friendships in this safe and supportive environment.
Most weeks the post holder will be required to work
· Tuesdays, 3.30pm-6.30pm to lead a cookery class for adults with learning disabilities (max of 4 participants)
· Thursdays, 4.30pm-7.30pm Curry Night assisted by one or two volunteers -you will lead the preparation and serving of a free meal for up to 25 people.
· Working 2 days a week (Monday to Friday) 10am – 2pm
· Occasional evenings for children's discos etc.
· There will be times when you will be required to work additional hours to cover for annual leave or staff training of colleagues.
You will be required to
· Supervise and support the team of service users, who have medium level support needs (maximum of 4 service users per day). Enable them to develop new skills including preparation of meals, food hygiene, health and safety awareness etc.
· Support the community café, which serves meals in-house, provides meals for activities in the centre such as luncheon clubs and serves some take away meals.
· Support to enable service users to take part in other activities in the centre.
It is essential that applicants have experience of working in a care environment alongside a positive can- do attitude, able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. It is also a requirement that you have experience of working in catering environment, are able to cook meals to the highest standard and fully enact the requirements of a 5-star rated food hygiene environment.
