We are seeking a patient, dedicated, and compassionate SEN 1:1 Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Upminster, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs on a one-to-one basis and helping them feel confident, safe, and supported within the school environment.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and works closely with families and external professionals to ensure pupils with special educational needs receive tailored and consistent support. As an SEN 1:1 Support Assistant, you will work closely with a named pupil who requires additional support to access learning and manage their day-to-day school experience. You will support the pupil academically, socially, and emotionally, adapting strategies to meet their individual needs and helping them develop independence and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with SEN
* Support the pupil in accessing the curriculum during lessons
* Assist with implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
* Support social interaction, communication, and independence
* Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and support staff
* Monitor, observe, and record progress against agreed targets
* Support the pupil during transitions, break times, and structured activities
* Maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
* Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals
* Attend training, reviews, and CPD sessions as required
* Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
