What you will do:
* Provide high-quality financial support for a mixed portfolio of services, or specialise in a specific financial service area such as Financial Planning or corporate financial accounting.
* Lead and inspire your team, ensuring continuous development through regular performance reviews and targeted training opportunities.
* Drive the finance services’ continuous improvement programme, proactively identifying and implementing improvement needs.
* Deliver financial advice and support to senior managers within the local authority, ensuring finance processes align with statutory and council rules.
* Prepare and monitor capital and revenue budgets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting regulations.
* Maintain and develop financial records using IT systems, ensuring data integrity and thorough analysis for management review.
* Travel as necessary to carry out job duties, with a valid driving licence and car available for work – exceptions are made for disabled applicants.
