About the Role
The 1:1 SEND Support Assistant will provide targeted, individual support to a pupil with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and reach their learning goals. You will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver tailored interventions, support classroom activities, and maintain a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment. Your contribution will have a direct and meaningful impact on the pupil’s academic and personal development.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND, ensuring their learning and social needs are met.
* Assist teachers in planning and delivering personalised lessons and activities.
* Support the pupil’s emotional, social, and communication development.
* Implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs), tracking progress and achievements.
* Assist with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and sensitivity.
* Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages engagement, confidence, and independence.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience supporting children with SEND or additional learning needs.
* Understanding of child development, behaviour strategies, and communication support.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other support staff.
* Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting pupils.
* Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete all relevant safer recruitment checks.
